Hamilton County is home to many computer recyclers and refurbishers. The companies and organizations listed below accept computers for recycling or refurbishing.
The District has not audited all the facilities listed on this page. Before using any computer recycler, make sure to conduct due diligence on the company. Your company is ultimately responsible for proper disposal of electronic equipment. Recyclers should provide a certificate of recycling and be able to tell you where each piece of demanufactured equipment is sent.
The list of computer outlets is divided between computer recyclers and refurbishers.
Recycler – Will typically accept any age of computer and will dismantle, erase and/or shred hard drives. Recyclers segregate the different materials and send those parts to other recycling facilities. Depending on the type of equipment accepted, some recyclers refurbish and resell the collected computers.
Refurbisher – Typically, computer refurbishers only accept certain types of computer equipment and donate the material to non-profits and schools. When contacting a computer refurbisher, request that the hard drive be swiped with Department of Defense software.
