Treemendous Air Facts
  Tree picture

Trees provide life-giving oxygen, release moisture into the air, stop carbon dioxide from polluting the air, and catch pieces of dust, soot, and ash that may be carried in the air.

One tree can provide a day's oxygen for as many as four people.

Tree pictureA tropical tree can live for more than 50 human generations. Think about how many people can breathe easily due to one tropical tree!

One acre of forest absorbs six tons of carbon dioxide and puts out four tons of oxygen. This is enough to meet the annual needs of 16 people!

There are about 60-200 million spaces along our city streets wheTree picturere trees could be planted. This translates to the potential to absorb 33 million more tons of carbon dioxide every year, and a savings of $4 billion in energy costs!

Trees properly placed around buildings can reduce air pollution by reducing air conditioning needs by about 30% and can save 20-50 % in energy used for heating. Every time we save energy, we help cut down on air pollution.

Recycling symbolRecycling paper saves trees, which cuts down on air pollution. When we recycle we also save energy and remember saving energy saves the air from pollution. It takes less energy to make new paper from old, than to  cut down trees and turn them into new paper.
