What: Don't Trash It Field Trip

Cost of transportation (up to $255 per bus) subsidized by Hamilton County Recycling and Solid Waste District for those schools registered in the District’s Recycling Assistance Program (RAP).

Where: Fernald Preserve (7400 Willey Road, Hamilton OH 45013) and Rumpke Landfill (3800 Struble Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45251)

When: The fall and spring of each year. Only one day left this school year: May 23, 2018

Who: Grades 1 through 8, maximum of 50 students per trip, per day. Field trip begins at 9 a.m. and will end at 1:30 p.m. Prepare to arrive at Fernald Preserve by 9 a.m. and depart for Rumpke landfill by 12 p.m. Please allow 30 minutes travel time for arrival at Rumpke by 12:30 p.m., to begin your 60 minute bus tour of the landfill. It is imperative to get to the landfill at your designated time as they have scheduled tours throughout the day.

Why: The Don't Trash It field trips offer teachers and students an opportunity to learn about the impact their actions have on the environment. Students learn the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling to divert materials from the landfill. 

How: To apply for the trip:

Step 1: Print, complete and return this signature form.

Step 2: Complete the below pre-registration form.Print form prior to submitting for your records.

Step 3: Student Reflections must be submitted within 10 days of field trip.

Field trips are limited to not more than four trips per school, per year. Application stays open as long as space is still available.
