The Solid Waste Management District

The Solid Waste Management District is responsible for implementing programs to encourage and promote recycling in Hamilton County. The District is the organization responsible for ensuring that the County stays in compliance with State mandated recycling goals. In some cases, such as managing Household Hazardous Waste, we do this by providing direct programming. For the most part, however, we accomplish this by providing residents, communities and businesses with the tools and resources they need in order to develop, offer and participate in recycling and waste reduction programs.  These tools take the form of grants, technical assistance, education and awareness.

Accomplishing our goals

We’re committed to accomplishing these goals and to keeping you informed on our progress. This report card attempts to show how recycling is faring in Hamilton County. The report is broken into two sections. The first section of the report card shows our progress toward State mandated recycling goals and recycling availability in the County. The second section shows results of individual District programs. An analysis is included within each section along with an option for learning more about each individual topic. We hope you find this report useful. Thank you for your interest in recycling in Hamilton County!
