As we embark on fall, District staff is busy wrapping-up a very successful season of collection programs and outreach events. The household hazardous waste collection program experienced a significant increase in the number of households participating and tonnage of material collected. Likewise, the District-sponsored computer recycling collection event also witnessed sizeable growth in participation and total number of tons collected.

I am also very pleased to report that, for the first time in 10 years, the recycling rates in Hamilton County increased, thanks in large part to enhanced outreach and the efforts of communities.

Another substantial project, the Solid Waste Management Plan Update, is also concluding. Over 90 percent of political jurisdictions in Hamilton County approved the Plan Update and the OEPA recently approved the plan.

I would like to thank the District staff for all their hard work to make these activities successful and to the numerous community leaders in Hamilton County. Without your support and the participation from your residents, none of the successes would be a reality.
