Greater Cincinnati Smart Kitchen Initiative

The Greater Cincinnati Smart Kitchen Initiative offers assistance to reduce pre-consumer food waste and/or donate prepared foods from foodservice operators in Hamilton County.

Why Measure Food Waste?

Because you can't manage what you don't measure. In commercial kitchens, pre-consumer food waste represents approximately 70% of all food waste. Measuring pre-consumer food waste is the first step towards reducing food waste and purchases.

How the Program Works

Participants will receive free technical support and training from experts at Hamilton County R3SOURCE on how to track food waste and safely set up donation programs when applicable. Participating kitchens may also receive funds to assist with the purchase of needed equipment that supports food waste reduction or prepared food donation.
